Matheus França was born in Brasilia, and started his studies in Music within various contexts, including youth bands and choirs, as well as chamber and symphonic choirs. Later on, he graduated in Music (Bachelor of Music in Conducting of Choir and Orchestral; and Music Teacher Degree) at the University of Brasilia (UnB). He also started his studies in Classical Singing at UnB, with Professor Irene Bentley.
At the university, his first contact with opera occurred with works such as Pergolesi’s La serva padrona and Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, playing the roles of Uberto and Don Basilio. Regarding concerts, his first solos were in works such as Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy (Chorfantasie), and Edgar Oliveira’s Psalm 21, and others. At that time he was also a soloist in works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Jorge Antunes’s Olga and the Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
In 2014 he was admitted at the Classical Choir of the Municipal Theatre in São Paulo. As a soloist, he worked under the guidance of conductors such as Stojan Kuret, David Junker, Dietmar Wiedemann, Emílio de César, Luís Gustavo Petrì, Roberto Minczuk, and others. He attended masterclasses with teachers like Marianne Cornetti, Luiz-Ottavio Faria and Kurt Rydl.
Concerning operatic works, his debut was playing the role of Zaccaria in Verdi’s Nabucco, followed by Nourabad in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles. He also played roles in operatic works such as Strauss’s Elektra and Der Rosenkavalier. His was Don Basilio in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. In the 2021 season of the Klosterneuburg Festival, he debuts the role of Padre Guardiano in the opera La Forza del Destino. For the two major seasons in the years 21/22/23, he composed the Ensemble of soloists of the Konzert Theater Bern Opera House.
Born in Brasília, Matheus França began his musical studies with children’s bands and youth, chamber and symphonic choirs. He graduated from the University of Brasilia in Music as Bachelor in Choral and Orchestral Conducting and Licentiate in Music. He had his formation directed by the teachers, conductors David Junker and Edson Dias Carvalho.
Besides an intense activity in religious centers conducting choirs and orchestras, he had the opportunity to participate in great festivals and masterclasses under the guidance of conductors such as Stojan Kuret, Marcelo Ramos, Emílio de César, Catherine Larson-Maguire and Dietmar Wiedemann.
As a conductor, he had his debut conducting the Uberlândia Wind and Percussion Orchestra in a symphonic concert. He then conducted the chamber orchestra at the Santa Catarina Festival. As his favorite concert, he conducted Sergei Rachmaninoff’s second concerto for orchestra and piano together with the University of Brasilia Orchestra.
In his longer career, he was assistant conductor of the University of Brasilia Symphonic Choir working with great works of the symphonic music world such as Carmina Burana, Requiem by Verdi, Mozart and Cherubini and the great work Gloria by John Rutter.
He is currently conductor of the Choir and Orchestra “A Canção do Viver”.
Matheus França, nato a Brasilia, iniziò suoi studi musicali in diversi contesti come gruppi infantili e giovanili, cori di giovani, cori di camera e sinfonici. Dopo si è laureato in Musica all’Università di Brasilia con una laurea in Direzione di Corale e Orchestrale. Inoltre, ha iniziato il suo studio di canto erudito con la Professoressa Irene Bentley.
Nell’università ebbe il suo primo contatto con opere come La Serva Padrona di Giovanni Battista Pergolesi e Il Barbiere di Siviglia di Gioacchino Rossini nei ruoli di Uberto e Don Basilio. Nella forma di concerto ebbe i suoi primi assoli in opere come Vesperae Solennes di Wolfang Amadeus Mozart, Fantasia Corale di Ludwig Van Beethoven, Salmo 21 di Edgar Oliveira, tra altre opere. In questo periodo era già solista in opere come il Requiem di Mozart, l’Opera Olga di Jorge Antunes e la grande 9ª Sinfonia di Beethoven.
Nel 2014 è entrato a far parte del coro lirico del Teatro Municipale di San Paolo – Brasile. Come solista è stato sotto la direzione di Stojan Kuret, David Junker, Dietmar Wiedemann, Emilio de César, Luis Gustavo Petrì, Roberto Minczuk e altri maestri. Ha partecipato a importanti Masterclass con professori come Marianne Cornetti, Luiz-Ottavio Faria e Kurt Rydl.
Nel suo lavoro operistico debuttò nell’opera Nabucco di Giuseppe Verdi nel ruolo di Zaccaria e poco dopo cantò Nourabad dei Pescatori di Perle di Georges Bizet. Ha partecipato a ruoli anche in opere come Elektra e Il Cavaliere della Rosa di Richard Strauss. Ha fatto Dom Basilio di Il Barbiere di Siviglia di Rossini. Nella stagione 2021 del Festival di Klosterneuburg, debutta il ruolo di Padre Guardiano nell’opera La Forza del Destino. Per le due grandi stagioni negli anni 21/22/23, ha composto l’ensemble di solisti del teatro dell’opera Konzert di Berna.
Nato a Brasilia, Matheus França ha iniziato i suoi studi musicali con bande e cori giovanili, cori da camera e sinfonici. Si è laureato presso l’Università di Brasilia in Musica, come Bachelor of Choral and Orchestral Conducting e Licentiate in Musica. La sua formazione è stata diretta dai maestri David Junker e Edson Dias Carvalho.
Oltre a un’intensa attività in centri religiosi dirigendo cori e orchestre, ha avuto l’opportunità di partecipare a grandi festival e masterclass sotto la guida di direttori come Stojan Kuret, Marcelo Ramos, Emílio de César, Catherine Larson-Maguire e Dietmar Wiedemann.
Come direttore d’orchestra, ha debuttato dirigendo l’Orchestra di fiati e percussioni di Uberlândia in un concerto sinfonico. In seguito, ha diretto l’orchestra da camera del Festival di Santa Catarina. Come suo concerto preferito, ha diretto il secondo concerto per orchestra e pianoforte di Sergei Rachmaninoff insieme all’Orchestra dell’Università di Brasilia.
Durante la sua lunga carriera, è stato assistente direttore del Coro Sinfonico dell’Università di Brasilia lavorando con grandi opere del mondo musicale sinfonico come Carmina Burana, Requiem di Verdi, Mozart e Cherubini e la grande opera Gloria di John Rutter.
Attualmente è direttore del Coro e dell’Orchestra “A Canção do Viver”.
